Life at Astley Grange

At Astley Grange we recognise the importance of maintaining a person's wellbeing from the minute you become a resident. We understand that it takes some time for a new routine to form and we will be here at every step to help during this transition.

Our aim is to promote a "quality of life" that is of the highest possible level. This is only achieved through meaningful and enjoyable activities and continued support from the staff at all times.

Visitors:

We actively encourage relatives and friends to visit the residents as often as they wish. You can entertain your relatives and visitors in the privacy of your own room or in the main lounge. We have a Relatives community here and there is plenty of opportunity for them to make friends with other relatives and staff.

Staff:

The manager is supported by a whole range of devoted staff including a Deputy Manager, Registered General Nurses, Care assistants, domestics, chefs and a maintenance man. These people are highly skilled with a wealth of training behind them and are fully committed to giving 24/7 care. Many of the team have worked in Astley Grange for many years, live locally and are familiar with the area.

The night staff check and ensure the building is safe and secure and are on hand whatever time they are needed to support the resident.

Residents Meetings:

We are constantly looking to improve the care, facilities and the services we offer our residents and therefore it is important to get as much feedback as possible. We have regular residents meetings and get ideas on how we can improve the environment.

Personal Care:

Each week we have a bespoke hairdresser that comes with all the equipment and caters for the residents needs to have their hair looked after. We also welcome your own personal hairdressers and any other visitors you may want to come in and care for your needs.

We also have a chiropodist who comes in every 6 weeks.

Types of Care

EMI Nursing Care

This is care provided by Registered Nurses and trained carers and is designed for those that require nursing care as well as what the activities of daily living.

Astley Grange provides a 24/7 hour nursing care for all of our residents.

In many cases a social worker will have carried out an assessment to determine what level of care a person requires. The Home Manager will also be happy to discuss this with you.

Dementia Care

As a leading provider of dementia care, we combine experience and expertise to offer you support and peace of mind.

We treat all of our residents as individuals and tailor our care around their needs. With the help of family and loved ones, we are able to get to know our residents, creating a picture of their life and ensuring we base our care around their likes, dislikes and habits.

We provide two types of dementia care:

Residential dementia
24-hour personalised care and assistance provided for those living with dementia, in a safe and comfortable environment

Dementia nursing
In addition to person centred care, we provide nursing staff to support residents who require qualified nursing care.

End of Life Care

End of life care requires an active, compassionate approach that treats comforts and supports individuals to enable them to live as well as possible until they die. It includes physical care, management of pain and other symptoms; the provision of psychological, social, spiritual and practical support is also important and it encompasses support for families and friends up to and including the period after death.

Palliative care is the active care of residents whose condition no longer responds to treatment. Palliative care aims to control pain and other symptoms, easing suffering and enhancing the life that remains.

Palliative care integrates the psychological, social and spiritual aspects of care to enable patients to live out their lives with dignity and respect, as well as offering support to families.

Palliative care aims to promote both physical and psychological well-being. It is a vital and integral part of all clinical practice, whatever the illness or its stage.

We have the experience within Astley Grange to provide the nursing, social and personal care that is appropriate. Staff working within these facilities will have had specialist training in pain management, symptom relief and bereavement.
